Thank you for applying to attend Air Camp. Each session of Air Camp will be filled by a limited number of students, each of whom are selected through a competitive application process. The Selection Committee is seeking students who can successfully demonstrate individual interest in STEM subjects and genuine excitement about the potential to explore aviation and aerospace during the application process. The application process consists of three steps:
STEP ONE - General Information About Applicant (and parent / guardian information if applicant has not yet graduated from high school). Within STEP ONE will be an opportunity for the applicant to request consideration for one of the limited full tuition scholarships as well as the opportunity to indicate if the applicant does not wish to be considered for selection in the event that they are not among the awardees of a scholarship.
STEP TWO - Student Essay (300 words or less) and Teacher Contact Information allowing Air Camp to solicit a digital recommendation on behalf of the applicant. (The Essay link will be sent to the email address entered for the parent / guardian on the same day STEP 1 is successfully submitted.)
STEP THREE - Teacher Recommendation provided electronically by the teacher, no handwritten/typed or digital uploads will be permitted. The applicant will submit the teachers contact information in step 2; Air Camp will automatically contact the teacher with the email address provided. It is the responsibility of the student applicant and/or parent to notify the teacher in advance that his or her contact information has been submitted within the application to attend Air Camp and that they should expect to receive a recommendation request by email directly from Air Camp. It is the responsibility of the applicant and/or parent to coordinate communication with the teacher in the event that he/she has not received it within 24 hours of submitting the complete application. Unfortunately, sometimes the automated email invitation will end up in the teachers SPAM/JUNK folder or be blocked by a school firewall, therefore it is important that the student applicant and/or parent followup with the teacher to ensure it was received. Air Camp is not responsible for a teacher not being able to access the recommendation invite but if we are made aware there is a problem we will gladly attempt to help solve the problem. Unfortunately, if Air Camp does not receive a digital teacher’s recommendation within the required application timeframe the student’s application will likely be completely disqualified from consideration. This year, Air Camp will host two different middle school programs, one is 5 nights, and 6 days in length, and the other is 5 days only, with no overnight component. For the overnight program students will be lodged at the University of Dayton or a similar institution of higher education, for the day only program daily drop off and pick up will be at the University of Dayton. Reminder: Upon clicking SUBMIT below, you will receive an email with the request for you to complete both parts of STEP TWO of the application. In that step, the student applicant will be prompted to submit a short essay of his / her own construct, detailing his / her interest to participate in an Air Camp event specifically as well as a request for the first and last name, phone number and reliable email address for the preferred teacher who will be contacted directly by Air Camp, Inc. with a request to complete an online recommendation form for this applicant. As soon as STEP TWO is completed, you will receive an email confirmation that both STEP ONE AND STEP TWO are complete, however, the application will not be submitted to the selection committee for review unless, or until, STEP THREE is also complete; this will only occur after the completed digital teacher recommendation has been submitted by the recommending teacher to Air Camp. It is the sole responsibility of the parent / student / teacher to ensure that this is completed.
